The Real Teachers of Wildwood Farm
It takes a special soul to become a schoolhorse—a gentle spirit that honors humanity and seeks to educate. Our resident herd is the heart of our academy, hand-selected for their training, patience, and willingness to guide riders on their journey.
Penny
Penny is a light bay Arabian mare that was acquired by Wildwood Farm in May of 2022. Although this little horse came to us with little training, she has developed into an amazing children’s horse and is used in our summer camps and beginner + lead line lessons. She is short and stout! Penny stands at 13.3 hands.
ZIPPENWITCHU (LJ)
Affectionately known ad LJ, this handsome chestnut quarter horse gelding was acquired by Wildwood Farm in October of 2022. LJ is a well-trained Western Pleasure show horse who is a fabulous teacher for those who want to learn to ride a horse who has a lot of buttons and skills. He is also a great trail horse for the more intermediate rider. He stands 15.1 hands tall.
KS TANGO
Tango is a dark bay colored Arabian/Quarter horse mare that was acquired by Wildwood Farm in August of 2022. Tango is the queen of our program and especially likes to work with the beginners and children. She teaches both English and Western and has a gentle disposition and thorough training, being used in a mounted drill team program for many years. She is an excellent trail mount as well. She stands 14.2 hands
ZIPPOS FLASHEY ASSET
Affectionately known as Mara, this beautiful quarter horse buckskin mare was acquired by Wildwood Farm in May of 2023. She spent many years prior to our farm as a recreational trail horse, but when she was younger she was a very competitive show horse in both Western and English. Mara is suitable for our intermediate riders as she is nicely forward with a good work ethic. She stands 15 hands tall
CHARLEY O'DONNELL
Charley is a chestnut American Bashir Curly gelding that was acquired by Wildwood Farm in May of 2017. Charley is one of our foundation horses and is excellent with the beginners as well as intermediate riders and teaches both Western and English. Charley has a history of being an excellent children’s horse and is amazingly patient. He is great on the trails, as long as you can keep him from eating all the brush! Charley stands 14.2 hands.
STERLINGS COMET
Comet is a speckled grey appaloosa gelding that was acquired with Mara in May of 2023. A robust “husbands” trail horse, Comet has stepped up to become a very good teacher for the intermediate rider and can ridden English or Western. He is excellent on the trails for any rider. Comet stands 15.3 hands tall.
Tannerite (Tanner)
Tanner is a bright bay Quarter Horse gelding that was acquired by Wildwood Farm in April of 2025. Tanner was used as a gaming pony and grew up on the island. He is the perfect size for children at 14.2 hands, and is used in our summer camp program as well as lessons. He has excellent ground manners and is used on the trails for our recreational rides.
Butters' Scotch
Butters is a bright chestnut Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred/Arabian gelding that was acquired by Wildwood Farm in April of 2025. Butters is a good teacher for our intermediate riders as he is sensitive to the aids and has a very willing work ethic. Standing 15.3 hands, Butters is a champ on the trails. He was used in a riding program in Redmond, WA for many years and is a gentle horse with his students.
QCS Hickota Mocha (Cali)
Affectionately known as Cali, this beautiful pure black quarter horse mare was acquired by Wildwood Farm in February of 2025 and is the undisputed jewel of the farm. She has extensive training on both Western and English and has a very willing attitude. She teaches beginners as well as more experienced students, and is a gem on the trails. She stands 15 hands.
He's a Loper Too (Keeper)
Affectionately known as Keeper, this handsome golden chestnut Quarter Horse gelding was acquired by Wildwood Farm in May of 2026. He has extensive Western Pleasure training and is more whoa than go, which makes him a great teacher for students of all levels. He loves the trails and has a great work ethic in the arena. He stands 15.1 hands
MAX AND STERLING
Both of these little chocolate-colored mini ponies were acquired by Wildwood Farm in October of 2015. Although these little fellas are too small for riding, they up the cuteness-factor at the farm with their antics and happy demeanor. The love to be groomed and are used for children’s birthday parties, summer camps and for comical relief! Max stands at 33 inches and Sterling stands at 32 inches tall.
Pharoah
Pharoah is grey-dun colored Miniature pony that was acquired by Wildwood Farm in January of 2025. Pharoah is on the stout side and large than most miniatures, and can handle larger children for lead line or arena work. Pharoah has extensive training for the arena show ring and is a great grooming pony and will stand perfectly still during his session. He stands 40 inches.
